J&B Red Program (Summer Camp Application)“A STEM Summer: Crafting Essays for the SHAD Summer Program” Highlights: J&B worked in a three-person team on a three-step project to prepare four 250-word essays for an application to the SHAD Summer Program. The J&B team worked closely with the client to incorporate their experiences fundraising for a cancer foundation, tutoring refugees, playing the flute, and swimming—recommending creative storytelling methods to bring the client’s experiences to life. J&B worked with the client in three stages, receiving their feedback and polishing and their final drafts until the client was satisfied with their final essays. Case:J&B worked in a three-person team to advise a student hoping to attend the SHAD Summer Program, a STEM-oriented summer experience in Canada. J&B worked with the client on four 250-word essays for their application. Background:As the client had meaningful experiences raising money for a cancer foundation, J&B helped the client translate their work fundraising and involving in advocacy projects into a 250-word essay. The client also tutored refugees learning English, which the team advised the client on how to best work into a two-paragraph essay. The client also wanted to include their work playing the flute and swimming, which J&B creatively incorporated into two separate narratives. The Process:The J&B team split the project into three steps. In the first step, J&B helped the client structure their ideas and experiences in paragraph form, which the client then revised in the second stage of the project. In the third step, J&B polished and edited the client’s final drafts, adhering to word counts and checking the essays for flow and accuracy.
