J&B Blue Program (Harvard International Review)“Exploring Sustainability for the Harvard International Review” Journal Selection Process:The J&B team consulted with the client, and after discovering their interest in international relations and public policies, suggested the HIR as a good fit for the client’s long-term academic goals. The HIR’s Academic Writing Contest’s “Sustainability” theme allowed the client to explore the range of their academic interests, with room for creative exploration. J&B was able to help the client use their wide range of interests as an asset when addressing sustainability. Given the HIR’s large number of submissions, J&B was careful to help the client present their ideas as innovatively as possible, utilizing “out of the box” thinking to address a critical eco-issue. Highlights: J&B helped the client prepare a 1,000-word article for the Harvard International Review (HIR) Academic Contest’s “Sustainability” theme. The client’s article was awarded a Gold Medal. The J&B team engaged in a brainstorming session to help the client come up with a unique topic that explored an underappreciated global issue. Throughout the writing process, J&B adhered to the HIR Style Guide and Evaluation Rubric and polished a series of drafts before settling on the finished product. The Process:As the HIR is interested in exploring underappreciated global issues from an analytical lens, the J&B team engaged in an in-depth brainstorming process to help the client find a suitable topic. After settling on a topic that the client could identify with, J&B provided the client with reliable, scholarly sources and news articles related to their topic. The team then helped the client produce a 1,000-word article. After carefully revising the client’s final draft as per HIR guidelines, J&B produced a polished draft that met J&B’s quality expectations. Writing Style:The client shared that they were interested in exploring critical, current, and global issues. Coordinately, J&B ensured that the topic was relevant to the client as well as compelling enough to meet the HIR standards. Throughout the writing process, J&B ensured that the formatting, language, and content of the article aligned with the HIR Style Guide and Evaluation Rubric.
