J&B Blue Program (Journal of Student Research)“Fine-Tuning a Research Paper for the Journal of Student Research” Journal Selection Process:After reviewing the client’s interest in academic research and the social sciences, the J&B team suggested the JSR as an ideal journal for publication. As the JSR aims to publish research projects from 12th-grade students, the J&B team recommended that the client submit their work as a secondary research project, given the client’s specialized focus and commitment to gathering and reviewing a wide variety of scholarly sources. As the JSR’s High School Edition is looking for submissions that address relevant, global issues often impacting high school students, J&B helped the client utilize their fine-tuned thesis and additional research for a unique approach that made their paper stand out. Highlights: J&B worked in a two-person team on a one-step project editing/polishing the client’s original 4,000-word research paper into a 2,000-word cross-comparative study for the Journal of Student Research (JSR). J&B helped the client narrow down the scope of their research to identify key areas to expand and elaborate on using additional secondary research. Throughout the project, J&B helped the client create a stronger, more detailed cross-comparative study. At the end of the project, J&B produced a draft formatted specifically for the JSR. The Topic:For this one-step project, J&B helped the client revise and polish an already-written research paper to meet the criteria of the Journal of Student Research (JSR). At the end of the project, the client finalized a 2,000-word cross-comparative study. The Process:After carefully reviewing the client’s original, 4,000-word paper, J&B worked in a two-person team to help the client narrow down the most relevant portions of their paper and elaborate on key content in further detail. After helping the client revise their thesis to reflect their key claims, J&B offered relevant secondary source material to diversify their research. After a series of heavy revisions/edits, J&B provided the client with a carefully formatted, polished version of their paper, including a “Metadata” page with an abstract, keywords, and a reference page, as per the JSR’s requirements. Writing Style:As the client is a strong, analytical writer with an interest in in-depth research, J&B helped the client narrow down the scope of their research so that they could conduct a more detailed analysis of smaller areas. By highlighting selected topics, the client was able to create a stronger comparative analysis of their main subjects by identifying differentiated aspects of their key topics. Throughout the project, J&B was able to guide the client in creating less of an overview, and more of a detailed, cross-comparative study.
