J&B Red Program “A Scholarly Conversation on ‘Americanness’” Highlights:J&B worked in a three-person team to prepare a 1,*00-word essay conducting a scholarly conversation using a 1960s poster to analyze the concept of “Americanness.” The Topic:The J&B consulted with the client on an essay that responds to scholarly problems with academic conversation. The team worked closely with the client’s essay guidelines to help them select a key focus of analysis for their paper, which they would then use to create their claims. As the goal of the essay was to spark conversation surrounding the concept of “Americanness,” the team helped the client fine-tune and direct their ideas to meet their goals. The Process:At the start of the project, J&B consulted with the client to discuss their essay ideas, while also gathering guidelines and relevant reading materials from the client. In the first stage of the writing process, J&B helped the client prepare an outline addressing the key points of their essay. The team also worked with the client to produce an initial, rough draft. After receiving feedback on the essay’s first draft, the team polished and revised the client’s essay to retain a detailed narrative that did not draw heavily from outside sources but rather highlighted the client’s unique ideas. Writing Style:As the client aimed to write an essay with a clear, coherent structure that would be easily understood by readers who were unfamiliar with their topic, the team helped the client create an informative yet explanatory narrative. The team also worked closely with the client to ensure that their essay was clear and persuasive and identified tensions surrounding the concept of “Americanness.” J&B’s Key Goals: Consistent writing Visual analysis Textual analysis Unique narration
