J&B Blue Program (Scholastic)“An American Dream: An Essay on Immigration” Highlights: J&B worked with the client to create a 1,*00-word critical essay for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards on immigration, tenement housing, and the pull of the American Dream The J&B team brainstormed with the client to help them identify an essay category and topic that suited them, provided them with an outline and scholarly sources, and edits to refine their ideas. J&B and the client collaborated to combine their goals and create a strong, unique essay both were equally satisfied with. The Topic:The J&B team and client worked on a 1,*00-word critical essay for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards exploring immigration, tenement housing, and the pull of the American Dream. The Process:J&B split the project into four main steps. At the start of the project, the consulting team and client discussed potential essay categories which would suit the client’s writing style and interests. After a brainstorming session, the team helped the client settle on the critical essay category. The team presented three potential topics to the client based on their brainstorming session, and the client selected the idea that interested them most. J&B then presented the client with an outline and scholarly sources, which they used to write their essay. In later stages, the team helped the client refine their ideas, present a personal connection to their topic, and flesh out the analytical components of their essay to meet Scholastic and J&B’s high standards. At the end of the project, both J&B and the client were satisfied with their unique approach to the critical essay category. Writing Style:As the client is a thoughtful writer who keeps the “bigger picture” of their essay in mind, J&B worked collaboratively to help the client address the “critical” component of their essay, while also incorporating some of the client’s favorite books into his narrative. The J&B team also presented the client with sample ideas to help them better understand how to create a more “personal” connection to their essay.
