As the client hopes to become a historian in the near future, J&B suggested that the client submit a paper for the Concord Review. The opportunity allowed the client to write one of the longest papers they have worked on yet, practice their research skills, assess a wide variety of scholarly sources, conduct deep analyses, and logically structure and organize their ideas. The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a 1*,000-word paper exploring K’s independence movements for the Concord Review. The Process:At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to brainstorm potential ideas for their Concord Review paper. As the client expressed an interest in Korean history, the team helped the client narrow down their ideas with several topic suggestions. Once the client selected the topic that appealed to them the most, J&B prepared a lecture and shared 10 scholarly sources with the client to provide background knowledge on their topic. Next, the team conducted a seminar session with the client to discuss three of the readings in depth. To begin the writing process, J&B shared a highly detailed, 17-page outline with the client to help them write their first draft. After the client wrote their introduction based on the outline, the team edited and returned it to the client with suggestions. As the client was working on their body paragraphs, they expressed a desire to change the direction of their topic so that they would be able to independently gather more scholarly sources and better address the main ideas of their paper. Accordingly, J&B flexibly suggested a modified topic for the client and prepared a revised outline for the client using as much of their content from the client’s original outline as possible. The client was pleased with the new outline and used it to complete their introduction and body paragraphs. J&B edited the client’s new introduction and body paragraphs while the client worked on their conclusion. Once the client completed their conclusion paragraph, the team worked on providing overall edits and polishing for the client’s draft to ensure that it would be ready for submission. Writing Style:The client is a highly detailed-oriented writer comfortable with conducting independent scholarly research. To help the client prepare a clear, detailed narrative, the team worked closely with the client on in-text citations, tone, transitions, consistent language, and precise language choices. As the client’s paper was longer than expected, throughout the project, the J&B team worked to motivate the client and support them in every aspect of the writing process so that they could comfortably work on their paper. At the end of the project, the client was extremely proud of their essay and pleased with J&B’s teamwork. J&B’s Key Goals: Careful topic selection Scholarly research Clarity Structure and organization Journal Selection Process:As the client hopes to become a historian in the near future, J&B suggested that the client submit a paper for the Concord Review, one of the leading journals in high school secondary research. The opportunity allowed the client to write one of the longest papers they have worked on yet, practice their research skills, assess a wide variety of scholarly sources, conduct deep analyses, and logically structure and organize their ideas. At the end of the project, the team was confident that writing for the Concord Review was a rare and ideal opportunity for the client to prepare for their future career.
