J&B Blue Program (John Locke)“Defining Theft During the ‘Wild West’ Days of AI” Highlights: J&B consulted with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the Law prompt: “Suppose that you were contemplating, in violation of the rules of this competition, submitting an essay written for you by artificial intelligence. What would be the difference between such an act and ordinary attempted theft?” The J&B team worked with the client on brainstorming, topic selection, a lecture, reading period, seminar, outlining stage, draft writing, and editing. To help the client merge their STEM background with the legal nature of their prompt, the team shared relevant sources with the client to help expand and specify their claims and analyses. The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the Law prompt: “Suppose that you were contemplating, in violation of the rules of this competition, submitting an essay written for you by artificial intelligence. What would be the difference between such an act and ordinary attempted theft?” The Process:At the beginning of the project, J&B and the client met to brainstorm potential prompts. As the client was interested in six prompts, the team shared relevant articles related to each prompt to help them pick one. After the client selected their prompt, J&B prepared a 40-minute lecture and shared ten scholarly sources with the client to expand their topic knowledge. J&B and the client then met for a seminar, where the team discussed three of the client’s scholarly sources in detail. J&B then shared a detailed outline with the client to help them write their first draft. Using J&B’s outline, the client wrote their first draft, which the team edited and returned to the client with suggestions. Next, the client wrote their second draft, which J&B polished and finalized so that it met their writing standards and expectations. Writing Style:The client is a thoughtful writer passionate about the future of technology. To help the client merge their STEM background with the legal nature of their prompt, the team shared relevant sources with the client to help expand and specify their claims and analyses. J&B also worked closely with the client on clear, concise language, removing repetition, and diversifying their arguments.
