J&B Blue Program (Scholastic Gold Key)“The Riddle of the Science Fiction Story” Highlights: J&B consulted with the client on a 2,*00-word Science Fiction short story for Scholastic. J&B broke the project down into a brainstorming session, topic selection phase, outlining stage, draft writing process, and editing and revision process. To help the client create a short story that combined both of their interests, J&B worked closely with the client on building unique character traits, developing the setting of their world, and introducing a memorable plot twist at the end of their short story. The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a 2,*00-word Science Fiction short story for Scholastic. The Result:Gold Key The Process:At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to conduct a brainstorming session and discuss possible topics and categories for Scholastic. Based on the client’s interests, the team prepared three topic suggestions for the client. After the client selected the topic that interested them both, the team slightly modified their topic to ensure that it stood out. Next, J&B prepared a detailed, 5-page outline for the client to help them write the first draft of their short story. The client utilized J&B’s outline as a starting point and added onto it in their first draft. The team then edited the client’s first draft and returned it to them with suggestions for revision. After following J&B’s guidance, the client produced their second, final draft, which J&B polished. At the end of the project, J&B helped the client create a 150-word summary of their short story, as per Scholastic’s submission guidelines. Writing Style:The client is a careful writer interested in both Science Fiction and mental health. To help the client create a short story that combined both of their interests, J&B worked closely with the client on building unique character traits, developing the setting of their world, and introducing a memorable plot twist at the end of their short story. From a technical standpoint, the team assisted the client with spelling, grammar, and mechanics throughout their drafts.
