J&B Red Program (College Admissions)“Kleos, Art, and Writing: An Admissions Package for Top-Tier Colleges” Highlights: The J&B team collaborated with the client on an admissions package to top-tier schools such as Harvard, Brown, MIT, Dartmouth, Williams, UVA, UMichigan, UChicago, USC, Columbia, Yale, Northwestern, Duke, Swarthmore, UPenn, Carleton and the UC schools. The admission packet included: their admissions essays, resume, activities list, recommendation notes, and artist statements, as well as letters of continued interest for any deferred schools. J&B flexibly worked with the client’s schedule to recommend a school list, potential majors tailored to specific schools, and Early and Regular Decision options, all while addressing each item in the package in time to meet urgent deadlines. Background:The client is a talented creative writer and visual artist, interested in majoring in both English and Philosophy. The J&B team consulted with their client throughout the project to ensure that their recommended major fit each desired school’s program and gave the client the best chance at acceptance. The team worked closely with the client throughout the project to ensure that their Common App and supplemental essays were specific to each school and represented the client’s diverse writing skills, passion for art, and goal of connecting the two in the future. The Process:At the start of the project, J&B worked with multiple team members to recommend a school list and potential majors that best suited the client, as well as options for Early and Regular Decision schools. After the client settled on their chosen schools and majors, the J&B team split the project into two batches. To suit the client’s scheduling conflicts, the team addressed each school in order from most to least urgent deadlines. J&B began the project by preparing recommendation notes for the client to share with teachers writing recommendation letters. J&B then prepared a series of outlines for the first batch of schools, which the client used to create their first drafts. The J&B team edited and polished the client’s final drafts. For the second batch of schools, J&B repeated the process, providing the client with extra time to make any changes they needed to their essays. Throughout the essay writing process, J&B worked closely with the client to write, edit, and finalize their Common App essay until it met the client’s and J&B’s high standards. Along with supplemental essays, J&B simultaneously worked with the client to update their resume so that they could submit it when they applied to their Early Decision schools. J&B also edited the client’s activities list, so that they could include it in their Common App or through the UC Application Portal. The team also helped the client produce artist statements for their art portfolio, which they planned to submit to their second batch of schools. At the end of the project, the J&B team touched base with the client to gather their most recent accomplishments and include them in letters of continued interest to any deferred schools.
